The PvP server 'Fury' has reached the maximum amount of player characters today. This means that at the moment no new characters can be created on 'Fury'.
This limit will be increased on the next update (planned for Wednesday) so new characters can be created again.
Thank you. |

Nice to see its still a popular game! would be interesting to find some stats somewhere showing how many numbers are actually subscribers to this game now.
cheers

700k accounts but subscribers will certainly be lower than that with people not playing past the 'free' period etc. That said as a mere mid 30 places like Connals valley seem just as busy as ever and at the end of the day thats the most important thing, that there are enough people to make the world seem well populated.
Seems AoC won't be the game to knock WoW off its perch but then I don't think many had any expectations that it would. As much as I personally think Conan is a far better game at this point than WoW was at release and general combat etc is more engaging, the only game likely to hit WoW subscriber numbers would be another blizzard MMO. It's testament to how deeply WoW has insinuated itself into gaming culture and how polished it is, it's a bad thing in some ways but what I have always said is that WoW is many peoples first experience of an MMO and the other games are there to cater for people wanting a different experience. Seems Conan is the most likely destination for people who have had enough of WoW and looks set to be around for a good while if Funcom get their development and fixes right. |

In time who knows? it could be just the game?
I dont think any game thats shortly been released is going to build a fan base like WOW but given time etc.
From what I have heard and read WOW wasnt very good at all on release with loads of bugs and server crashes AoC has been pretty dam good considering.
Cheers

9 million subscribers is a tough number to break down mrix imo AoC will not get those kind of figures but it will be a success at the end of the day. |

Yeah, lets face it with 9mil subs for WoW, coming a respectable second is a good achievement when you think of it compared to all the other MMO's except WoW. If AoC can stabilise with say 1million "active" subs I think the players and Funcom can be very happy. You don't need WoW numbers for a long term stable mmo.
What I hope is that Funcom avoid softening the game and keep it harsh or even make it harsher, as it's not very punishing atm in truth, for harsh I'm thinking Eve Online harsh, or at least in that direction..
I hope that they don't frown too much on ganking and 'unfair' PvP. While I don't indulge in such myself in general, I do feel it's a key aspect of the gameplay that should be kept and that differentiates Conan from WoW. Over time more pvp players will come for that difference. Punish people too much for ganking and you lose a lot of the harcore gankers and while we may love to bitch about them, an open pvp game without them is doomed to die. |

Can't help but agree kop, as much as the gankers/griefers can be annoying they are an essential part of the dangerous pvp world that AoC needs. |

True buit a fair number iof them are hopelessley addicted to that shit now. You just have to listen to the new player help in Conan and see all the wow does it this way, why isnt it like wow and references to 'barrens chat' etc to see that.
I see no reason at all for Conan to not be a big success but still I dont see WoW type numbers being a reality as wow is so much "easier and noob friendly", no offence to the guys that play it lol |

3? Plenty of MMO's that have been around as long or longer than WoW and have a gnats pube of subscribers in comparison! WoW caters for the masses, kids/adults/sheep/aliens/pork chops etc |

The fact of the matter is no MMO is going to instantly have millions of subscribers, that will always take years to build if the game is good enough, I dont think we are ever going to see what could match or come close to matching the game WOW until probably years after its release.
Where age of conan goes we will have to wait a fair while and see i guess.
cheers
