Hey guys (and gals)
Like alot of people I've been having stability issues with BFBC2.
The most frequent and annoying, besides texture flickering, is random crashing to desktop-
Rather than hoping DICE (Dopey Insufferable Clumsy Ejits) would solve this problem with an update i decided to go routing with what software parameters they've made available to the end user.
Stumbling across the setting.ini file in the bfbc2 folder in My Documents I noticed the RefreshRate setting was set to 59.89246 (along the lines of that). After changing it to the sensible 60.00 I've had no crash to desktops since. Hope this helps anyone out there that's having the same problem.
Those suffering from flickering textures with ATI CrossfireX setups; until ATI release a profile for BFBC2 in their CrossfireX Profiles Application the only way to fix the issue is to set Catalyst AI to Disabled in the Catalyst Control Center. I know, you'll suffer a frame per second loss, but its currently the only way to resolve the issue- fingers crossed the Catalyst 10.3 release with have a profile made.

Alright Rouge,
Good to see some of the old sea dogs are aboard
Im good, have been enjoying the world of Source games and mods as well as getting my hands dirty with Company of Heroes in months gone by.
Bad Company 2 is alright, but its a stop gap till Battlefield 3 comes out, Battlefield is a PC franchise, first and sure as heck foremost- consoles? consoles!? their heatsinks make better fryers than there games are playable. (oi! naooooo)
Shame it still isnt stable, but then again, any game that DICE have released has never seemed to be shipped bug free- typical really.
Do hope y'all haven't been giving mrix a bruising on Bad Company 2, though im sure his i7 can take it |

Vint,
set the RefreshRate to 60.00 and not any higher.
I also recommend everyone set their FOV to the resolution there playing on using this FOV calculator:
http://rjdown.co.uk/projects/bfbc2/fovcalculator.php
because of the consoles the frostbite engine uses vertical FOV instead of horizontal FOV, in using this calculator you can view things in a proper perspective. Just type in your resolution width and height, the horz. angle at 90 and it'll churn out the number to put in the FOV parameter in the settings.ini
Looks and feels alot more like the resolution is supposed to.
Here's a visual demo of what it does for those not familiar with what FOV is:
